Year 4S 2021 - 2022

Mr Kenny

Welcome to 4S

Our class teacher is Mr Kenny and our teaching assistant is Miss Farrell. We also have Miss Mooney who works as 1:2:1 support.

Things to remember in Year 4:

We always try our very best, no matter how hard it gets!

Homework: Homework and book bags will be sent home on a Monday and are expected to be returned on Friday of the same week. Please only send book bags into school on Fridays to avoid any unnecessary cross contamination. We will leave these in isolation over the weekend.

PE: PE kits must be in school on Tuesdays and Fridays, as these are our dedicated PE lesson times. Kits will be sent home every half term to be washed and then are to be returned in time for the next half term. If you wish for your child to collect their PE kit and take it to be washed at any point then please ask and we can arrange this.

Reading books: We ask that children have one reading book in their tray and they keep this book until it is finished. This can be a book they bring from home or a book from school but it must stay in school at all times until it needs to be changed.

Please read with your child every day.

Attendance: Our class attendance target for this academic year is 96%. We would therefore encourage you not to take your child out of school during term time as this would have an adverse effect on your child's learning. Children need to be in school on time every day, arriving between 8.40 and 9.00am at their designated entrance point.

Water bottles: We ask that each child comes to school with a water bottle. Please label your childs water bottle in some way to ensure they do not get it confused with a water bottle of the same design. Plastic water bottles are okay to use but must be disposed of by the children in an environmentally safe way.

Multiplications: By the end of year 4, all year 4 children are expected to know their multiplication facts to 12. We ask for your support in ensureing the children learn these as they are vital in helping your child with ALL parts of the mathematics curriculum. You can help by simply asking your child random multiplication questions each day, using TimesTable rockstars (a free app. Username and password is provided by the school.) or using a website called TopMarks and a game called HitTheButton (this is not a free app, but is a free to use and safe website which the children use within lessons). The children have a multiplication test towards the end of year 4 which gives them 6 seconds to answer a random multiplication question on an electronic tablet, this can be intimidating for any child, especially those whom have had little to no practice. We appreciate all of the support you can offer with this!
